THREE GORGES DAM

The biggest hydroelectric power station in the whole world is the Three Gorges Dam that traverses the Yangtze River in China. Although most of the dam is now operational, several underground generators are currently being installed, and the power station is not set to be completely operational until 2011. This large power station has been controversial since the beginning, with environmental impacts and flooding issues two of the foremost problems. (more…)

Freshwater has a water salinity of less than .5 and are mostly found in lakes, ponds, rivers, underground water sources. It is very important to agriculture. Broiler Chickens

Television chef Hugh Fernlay-Whittingstall had his show ‘Hugh’s Chicken Run’ broadcast earlier this year, informing horrified viewers what the life of a broiler chicken is really like. His show encouraged people to buy free-range eggs instead, and sales have risen by more than 50% in this last year. The chef has taken his campaign a step further by buying shares in Tesco in order to set forth a resolution to improve the quality of life and the welfare of the chickens. (more…)
