Leaning Tower of Pisa

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in the Italian town of Pisa and is regarded as an incredible feat of engineering. Although the tower was not intended to be leaning, it began its southward tilt soon after construction in 1173 primarily due to loose substrate and poorly laid foundations.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa stands at 56.70 metres tall on the highest side, and 55.86 metres on its lower side. It had an angle of 5.5 degrees although after restoration work the angle decrease to its present 3.99 degrees. The impressive tower is a site to behold and people travel from all over the world to see this leaning building. Construction of the tower began in 1173 and it started leaning to the side only a few years later.
